Every year we assemble the sources of all the tales nominated for the exchange for everyone to read, enjoy, and work from the same canon for their stories!

Now that nominations are open, I thought I might include the source sheets from all our previous years that you can browse through for old or new favourites, as well as offer a spot for you to sell people on your favourite tale!

Format for recommendations:

Here's a simple format to follow:

<B>Story Name</B>:
<B>Story link (OPTIONAL)</B>:
<B>What makes this tale awesome</B>:

Example:

Story Name: The Girl Who Became a Boy (Albanian Fairy Tale)
Story Link: http://www.albanianliterature.net/folktales/tale_07.html
What makes this tale awesome: Not only does it have the girl getting the girl, this caper-like story features a sassy talking horse and tax-evading snakes. Also the importance of mother and son relationships. This is different from the also nominated Violet Fairy Book version in that no one gets murdered and again, the snakes.

See nominations HERE at the tag set!

Your nominations create the set of texts that can be offered and requested when signing up. The tagset is user-chosen and changes from year to year. You don't need to nominate to sign up, but you do need to nominate to ensure that what you want is in the tag set.

You can nominate up to 4 fandoms and up to 4 characters each.

Nominations guidelines can be found here in the FAQ, resources (such as links to the text of various stories) can be found here, and of course feel free to ask the mods anything at: onceupon@fandom.exchange

Please be specific when nominating - narrow your tale down by author or origin. Many fairytales have multiple versions and we only allow specific versions so everyone is working from the same variation. This might mean submitting a tag that isn't canonical on the archive already - it's okay if it doesn't come up as a dropdown option.

Good: Beauty and the Beast - Joseph Jacobs
Bad: Beauty and the Beast (Fairytales)

We welcome comments on this post to clarify which version you mean. Links are great, especially if you think we may have difficulty finding the source.

Please check this comm during nominations (end Feb 11th) to see if we have questions for you. And then, Feb 18th, SIGN-UPS!
