Warm greetings, 2021 participants! This is the Beta Volunteer Post!
Betas are not required for this exchange, but they can be a great asset to your story. A beta can help find bits you missed, tease out the strengths of a story, or offer insights on improvement.
Even if you aren't writing in this exchange, betaing for others is a great way to participate and have fun! Your valuable service is immensely appreciated.
If you're into betaing and want to help out, please reply in a comment to this post. The following information may be helpful:
-a name (especially if you're signed up - give your AO3 name to ensure you aren't asked to beta your own gift)
-how to contact you
-what canons you know, or are willing to familiarise yourself with (see this year's sources spreadsheet and the sign-up summary showing which stories were requested).
-if there is anything you can't beta (by length, content, timing, etc)
-what kind of beta services you offer
Bonus:
-any specific expertise you can offer advice on
-document formats you prefer
___
If you do not want to offer your contact details on this post for privacy reasons, you can use the moderators as a go-between. Just make sure you're mentioning that in your comment *and* send us the contact info so we can actually contact you. Thank you! Anonymous comments are on, but you need to give contact details - either so we can unscreen your comment directly, or so mods know how to contact you and what info is relevant to re-post.

Date: 2021-04-29 12:42 am (UTC)No squicks/triggers, happy to read all content, though would appreciate a heads-up about generally disturbing content, especially harm to hands. I can also read any length, although obviously may not be able to be thorough on longer works close to reveal.
I generally use Google Docs or Microsoft Word.
I'm only broadly familiar with most of the larger/wider canons - cannot offer expertise on any of: the Eddas, the Odyssey, the Iliad, De nugis curialium, Chrétien de Troyes' and Malory's Arthuriana, the Mabinogion, the Tanakh, the Metamorphoses, and wider Robin Hood lore. So I'm happy to beta for those but may miss some finer details.
Looking forward to reading!
