Most of us in the lore and religion fandoms are aware (some are keen to participate!). Mostly, we just appreciate it if you get people to be specific as possible, which they are being - this is one of few places I know that asks which Cinderella/Sleeping Beauty/etc fairy tale people mean! If there's anything we can't identify, we might need to ping you or the person that nominated a question, if that's okay?

(Whuffle, I was about to ping an apology at you for jumping on your thread... then I realised who you were. So, hello!)

Basically, anything in the "Uncategorized Fandoms" bit of your tag set is new. Don't worry! We love seeing new fandoms. And a lot of them are already perfectly formatted, which as a fairy tales wrangler makes me swoon with delight a little.

Some things I have seen:
* Aschenputtel | Cinderella has a nomination for a fairy godmother, but there isn't a FG in Aschenputtel. This role is played by the spirit of her mother, in a tree. I don't know if you want to contact the nominater about that.
* If Maid Maleen could be changed to "Jungfrau Maleen | Maid Maleen (Fairy Tale)", that would be amazing, as that would be the final form over in fairy tales.
* Similarly, if Diamonds and Toads could be changed to "Les Fées | Diamonds and Toads - Charles Perrault", that would be fantastic.

I briefly helped tag wrangle for an exchange, but that was over a year ago now, so my memory is a little fuzzy. Maintainers can change the tags, though, I believe, for formatting or to make it clear exactly what is meant.

I'll make those changes right away! I knew there was something odd about the fact there was no canon tag for the aschenputtel one.

There, all changed!

Some of the character tags no longer match the fandom even though they're synced up but I'll get to those later. And yes, it's totally okay for you to ping me or people!

Oh wow, thank you so much! Those look absolutely fantastic.

Yeah, I'm one of the fairy tale wranglers and we are absolute nerds about this sort of thing. *laughs* I get terribly overexcited about the Cinderella variants, and though most of them have a benevolent supernatural figure of some sort, it varies what that figure is exactly. Disney's version is based on Perrault and has become by far the best-known in the English-speaking world at least. But I might be rambling a little now, sorry!

This was great fun to watch last year, with so many interesting stories! The 2015 exchange generated six new fandom tags and the nominations covered sixteen languages, so that was awesome too.

I *thought* I was a nerd for this stuff but this exchange has taught me I only know a fraction of the stories out there. I'm really enjoying the ones I've discovered through the tags, like Godfather Death.

Oh wow, I don't think anyone could know them all! Pretty sure I only know a fraction of the ones that the Grimms collected, for a start! I have various books, and I love just flipping them open to a random page sometimes and seeing what comes up. Non-European fairy tales are harder to come by where I am, but I love finding them as well. (I still have vague plans for a story based on Ye Xian, the Chinese Cinderella variant, but omg so much writing.)

This exchange introduced me to new ones last year, and it's doing it again! Janghwa Hongryeon Jeon looks super interesting, and Morozko.

(It did make me chuckle to see One-Handed Girl back again. One of my hardest wrangling moments was probably tracking down the Swahili title for that story!)

Basically having a wrangler to help just smooths over some of the dealing with tags and tag sets.

To start with, I will look through what's been nominated for anything that doesn't have an existing fandom or character canonical. (Being a canonical means that it will show up in the autocomplete and be searchable). Let me know what I'd any nominations there are that you don't intend to approve so I don't bother checking those.

I've been taking a look through the nominations along with a couple of my fellow wranglers and noticed that some of my own nominations as well as those of people I know have been changed. Any chance we can talk through whatever changes you might have made while approving nominations? Because at least in the case of my own noms, the changes that have been made disconnect the characters from each other and from the intended fandom.
